Memorial Day Honor & Donor Run 2026
616 Miles of Purpose
For 616 miles, Max and Gnocchi crossed Oregon carrying a message of hope, gratitude, and awareness — from Bend's hospitals and dialysis centers to the Oregon Coast and home again.
From hospitals and dialysis centers in Bend, through Hood River and the Columbia Gorge, to Doernbecher Children's Hospital — where Gnocchi delivered presents and smiles — every stop reminded us how precious life truly is.
We visited the OHSU Transplant Center, honored veterans along the way, reached Newport and the Oregon Coast, crossed the Yaquina Bay Bridge, shared a bowl of clam chowder at Mo's, and continued through Pacific City before returning home along Highway 20. In Sweet Home, Lebanon, Salem, and many places between, we paused to remember the heroes we've lost and celebrate those who still inspire us.
What stays with us most is not the miles, but the faces — the children, the veterans, the patients, the families, and the countless conversations that began with a simple question and ended in a deeper understanding of hope, donation, and life.
A Day of Giving
Presents, a piano, and Gnocchi at Doernbecher
We started the morning at Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Downstairs, a piano player quietly donated his time, playing for an almost-empty hall. Then the call came — and Gnocchi made absolutely sure those presents reached the children. In that moment, every mile and every sleepless night became worth it.
At the Samuel Jackson House, it was story after story, smile after smile. Gnocchi became a small, shining light of happiness for people fighting battles most of us will never fully understand. Sometimes hope arrives on three wheels. Sometimes it has paws.
