Why we ride?
For someone that is running out of time.
A Journey of Awareness, Gratitude, Life… and Promise
The uncomfortable reality nobody wants to talk about.
Let’s be honest for a second.
This is not a conversation people want to have.
You can feel it… even reading this.
It’s uncomfortable.
Part of you wants to look away. Scroll. Think about something easier.
Why?
Because right now—this exact moment—
someone is sitting in a hospital room hearing:
“There’s no organ available.”
And that’s it.
No plan.
No timeline.
Just… wait.
Over 100,000 people in this country are living like that right now.
Waiting for an organ transplant that may never come.
Not because medicine failed.
Not because doctors didn’t try.
Because not enough people say yes to organ donation for human lives.
That’s the part we don’t like to say out loud.
But it’s the truth.
People die waiting… while the rest of us avoid the conversation.
And we avoid it because it forces us to think about things we don’t want to think about—
death… our body… things we can’t control.
So we push it away.
“Not my problem.”
Until it is.
Because sickness doesn’t care.
It doesn’t care who you are, what you believe, how strong you think you are, or what your plans were.
It shows up anyway.
And when it does… everything changes.
I know that because—I shouldn’t be here.
I’m alive because two people made a decision.
My mother…
and someone I will never meet who checked a box at the DMV.
That’s it.
That’s the difference between me being here… or not.
Let that sink in for a second.
A stranger made a decision… and I get to live.
And still—we avoid this.
I lost a friend not long ago.
He didn’t lose a fight.
He ran out of time.
And for so many others… the call just never comes.
Because somewhere, someone never made a decision.
That’s when this stops being “a topic.”
That’s when it becomes real.
So I’ll say it like this:
Not deciding… is still a decision.
And silence?
It has consequences.
That’s why we ride.
A man.
A dog.
A motorcycle.
Nothing special.
Just showing up… where this conversation actually matters.
Because talking about it once a year isn’t enough.
So I’m asking you—straight:
What are you waiting for?
Register as an organ donor.
Talk to your family. Say it out loud.
Make the decision.
Today.
Not when it’s convenient.
Not “one day.”
Today.
Because one day… this won’t be something you read online and forget.
It’ll be someone you know.
Someone you love.
And when that happens—
you won’t care how uncomfortable this felt.
You’ll only care about one thing:
“Did I do something when I had the chance?”
My story is not special.
It just happened to me.
And that means… it can happen to anyone.
My ride is just a reminder.
We ride… for the ones who can’t. Not yet.
